Australia Third Blog Post

In Australia there is not a whole lot of ethnic diversity, therefore there is also no current ethnic conflicts in the region. There is also not a wide variety of languages that are spoken in Australia.

As you can see above, the majority of Australia is white. Viewing this one may believe Australia has little to no diversity however they have quite a rich history of immigration from all over the world.

Religon In Australia

Religon in Australia is quite diverse. The Constitution of Australia prohibits the government from establishing a church and interfering with freedom of religion. Most of Australia's population is made up of Christians.  On the 2011 Census 61% of Australians declared some type of Christianity. In the past the percentage was far higher but Australia is growing and diversifying. In the same census in 2011 23% of Australians declared no religion and a meager 9% refused to answer. The remaining population is a group of 2.5% Buddhists, 2.2% Muslim, 1.3% Hindus, and 0.5% Jewish.

Government

Australia has a federal system of government. The Australian Federal Government is headed by the Queen who is represented in Australia by the Governor-General of Australia. The country is further divided into states and territories which are self-governed. The states retain sovereign powers that have been assigned to them by the national government derived from the Constitution.
